i saw batman and here’s what i thought

My friends and family are all aware that I am a very critical consumer of media, and film is no exception to this rule. And if there’s one thing I will always be ready to speak my mind on, its blockbusters that everyone is fangirling over.

So I saw Batman! Literally the day it came out. People have gone absolutely mad for the RPat film and I had very high hopes for it, and to be honest, it actually didn’t disappoint.

I love Robert Pattinson. His name gets dragged through the mud sometimes for previous projects (looking at you Twilight), but you can see, I think, that that man visibly hated that content just as mucyh as we did. He was spectacular in Tenet and hes a great actor. And also fit. I think Pattinson played a great Batman. I loved that he was slightly more ‘feminine’, so to say, and the casting was honestly spot on. Kravitz played a great Catwoman, and the tension was perfectly done to the point where at times I felt like I was interrupting them.

Acting aside, visuals were immense. There were some proper class shots and the cinematography was honestly faultless. They really did a good job in their presentation of Gotham, and it was a lot more loyal to comic book depictions that previous versions. I also thought the soundtrack was honestly perfect.

The story was good and interesting, but there was a lot of world-building, making it, I felt, unneccessarily long. Considering DC are only just getting back into the fgame, I think they should stick to shorter, catchier films, or longer films in one franchise, rather than having a super long Batman, then a totally unrelated Snyder-verse, etc. I hate this new thing that every film was to be 2.5 hours +. What happenbed to the 90 minute film? Quantity does not equal quality, fellas.

Rating – 8/10

Should I watch? If you don’t want to feel socially alienated, definitely
